About Me
I grew up in O'Fallon, Il. I have loved learning, and I have been fascinated with science for as long as I can remember. I graduated from O'Fallon Township High School.
I attended Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville to complete my general studies. I decided to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale for the area's breathtaking views, numerous outdoor opportunities, and the excellent Teacher Education Program. I graduated with my Bachelor of Biology and secondary education teaching license in 2009.
Due to my love of learning and of Carbondale's tight knit community, I continued on at SIUC to earn my Master of Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis in science and environmental education. I've also enjoyed expanding my content knowledge through additional graduate science courses at SIUC and SIUE.
I have gratefully taught at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School for 11 years. During this time, I have had the opportunity to teach numerous science courses at all grade levels. These include Advanced Biology I, Advanced Biology II, Biology I, Biology II, Chemistry I, Ecology, and Environmental Science. As much as I've loved learning with introductory science students, I have also thrived teaching rigorous dual credit courses.
After numerous years as foster parents, my husband and I were blessed to adopt our son and daughter, the lights of our lives. I am thrilled to instill in them, my love for learning and answering questions through science, just as I strive to do with my students.
